Biografi of Alejandro fernandez
Mexican star Alejandro Fernández appears for the first time on Sony Classical with the release of Christmas in Vienna VI (SK 61691; in some countries, Christmastime in Vienna, SK 61798). The Christmas in Vienna concerts have become a beloved tradition in Vienna, where each year in December tenor Plácido Domingo offers a holiday concert together with music stars from around the world. This year Fernández joins Domingo and French star Patricia Kaas for a festive live recording from the Rathaus in Vienna, with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra conducted by Steven Mercurio.
The album was released by Sony Classical in the autumn of 1999.
The son of a singer, Fernández grew up absorbing the purest Mexican music: rancheras and boleras. As a boy his father would bring him onto the stage for duets, an arrangement that was duplicated many years later for their first recording together, Amor de los dos (The Love of Both of Us). Soon after, in 1991, Alejandro turned away from his career as an architect and made his solo debut with Alejandro Fernández. He worked in classic Mexican style with a mariachi band, pushing the stylistic envelope with innovative and unusual arrangements. Little by little he has worked his way back to his roots; as he recalls, "I started to dig deep into the traditional sounds." These sounds have become ever more popular as Mexican and Latin music has come into its own on the world stage.
Born in Mexico City, where his father pursued a recording career, Alejandro has always felt he belonged in the provinces. Making his home in Guadalajara, he has seen the real ranch life where rancheras, Mexican country music, are not just songs but a way of life. In the folk spirit of this music, he sings by ear and directly to the heart. "I was always very romantic", he confesses. "My intentions are to go out into the world and represent my Mexico and Latin America. Our music."
